Dumplings
Though a bit too busy with Program Coordinating, I did manage to make a few things - starts to some projects I'd like to do more with.
These are sewn from pre-made felt that I purchased at a calligraphy art supply store in Beijing - the felt is normally used for laying under paper. The container is a typical bamboo steamer used by the restaurants and general folk here - you'd normally see them in huge stacks though with just one lid at the very top.

I like cricket cages - there are some great old ones around - especially in the markets. Panjiayuan has a wonderful selection, though way overpriced.
Here are some other odds and ends:

My First Felt Hat

Here's me in the midst of creating my first felt hat - photo taken by my niece Ellie (soon to be 6 years old).
I don't really understand felt but it is just wonderful to play with.
Thank you thank you to Betcie for guiding me through the process.
My First Felt Hat!

Ah the miracles of the felting process! I don't know how we did it but Betcie and I created a hat with a brim!

I made this ring for Ashley's birthday - there were structural issues though and it fell apart. I've made a few others that now seem to be good and sturdy - not sure what happened with this one
